Exciting Vice President position for a global exhibition organiser, based in Shanghai, China. The position requires extensive senior-level experience of exhibition / trade-show management in the Chinese region – plus fluent spoken Mandarin.

The Role

As Vice President, you’ll be responsible for the show management and business management functions of the company within the region. You’ll be required to research and present potential growth opportunities within the current global portfolio of events and industry sectors that are not fully represented in China. You’ll need experience in building teams, budgeting and overseeing all marketing and operations functions within a large-scale organiser.


  • Overall management responsibility for exhibitions within China – including strategy, sales, marketing, admin and development of events – driving visitor attendance
  • Clear and pragmatic control of overheads, staffing, show teams and operational functions
  • Building, coaching and developing the team – including hiring and dismissal as appropriate
  • You’ll launch new shows in the Chinese market following extensive research, SWOT analysis, planning and team-building
  • Clear reporting to the Senior Vice Presidents and the board of Directors


  • Extensive experience in running and launching large-scale exhibitions in the Chinese market and all show management tasks - including sales, marketing and operations
  • Business acumen and management experience with a proven background in driving successful sales and marketing
  • Strong organisational / planning skills and the ability to work to strict deadlines
  • English and strong Mandarin – fluent if not native-level competency
  • You’ll need excellent interpersonal skills and effective leadership – clear and effective communication and the ability to motivate and direct
  • Hands-on approach with strong attention to detail but also able to see the ‘big picture’
  • Proven intellectual management ability, with a passion for the business and an analytical, creative approach
  • An entrepreneurial spirit, innovative with fresh ideas and plenty of energy
  • Experience within the industrial sectors is strongly preferred
