A Sales Manager with exhibition and sponsorship sales experience is required to drive the development of a new launch event / expo. You’ll manage a sales team, develop new business and take the lead on some high-profile accounts within a rapidly growing and successful B2B event organiser of exhibitions and conferences for the public sector. 

The Role:

You’ll be leading a sales team of two, working alongside the Event Director and the show team to deliver target revenues. This is hands-on position, ensuring that the sales team operates with maximum efficiency in resourcing, performance, motivation and skill sets. You’ll need to be a confident Sales Manager with experience in motivating a sales team and your own proven sales record.

You’ll need to be a clear communicator and motivator with the ability to inspire a team and deliver great results within fast-paced and varied environment. You’ll need strong knowledge of the trade show environment and will be required to visit competitive events as well as consultative selling face-to-face. You’ll need extensive experience in selling exhibition space and sponsorship.

What you’ll be doing

  • Driving strategic growth through new business and high profile key accounts
  • Ensuring that revenue targets and KPIs are met
  • Day-to-day management of the sales team
  • To develop and maintain complex deals both through exhibition and sponsorship sales
  • Build client relationships in order to drive client outcomes and ensure overall growth of the exhibition
  • Training and motivation of the sales team
  • Developing sales plans to ensure revenue growth of the event
  • Producing quarterly assessments of the team’s productivity
  • Holding daily / weekly meetings with the sales staff
  • Collaborating with the Event Director to develop and grow market share and new areas of sales interest

Key Requirements:

  • A minimum of three years as a Sales Manager in an events, conference or media business – having managed direct reports
  • Significant experience in sales with a demonstrable successful sales record of customer focused sales in a B2B environment
  • Must have solid sponsorship & exhibition sales experience and able to sell at top level to high profile blue chip organisations
  • Proven track record in organising communication campaigns, marketing materials, integrated campaigns and experiential activity
  • A decision maker, flexible and able to work at pace within a highly demanding and at times pressurised environment
  • Driven sales person who is adept at closing
  • The ability to understand business issues and identify new opportunities
  • A hunger to reach and exceed targets and a tenacious attitude
  • Crystal clear communication skill and people-management skills with the ability to communicate confidently and effectively with all levels across the business
  • Must be professional, resilient, approachable, diligent, and have a flexible approach to work, leading from the front
  • Excellent organisation and time keeping skills
