A Sales Manager with exhibition and sponsorship sales experience is required to drive the growth of a flagship conference and exhibition / expo. You’ll manage a sales team and develop new business within a rapidly growing and successful B2B event organiser of exhibitions and conferences for the public sector. 

The Role:

You’ll be leading a sales team of four, working alongside the Event Director and the show team to deliver target revenues of £4m. You’ll need to be a confident Sales Manager with a proven track record in successful exhibition stand sales. This is hands-on position, ensuring that the sales team operates with maximum efficiency in resourcing, performance, motivation and skill sets. 

You’ll need to be a clear communicator and motivator with the ability to inspire a team and deliver great results within fast-paced and varied environment. You’ll need strong knowledge of the trade show environment and will be required to visit competitive events as well as consultative selling face-to-face. You’ll need extensive experience in selling exhibition space and sponsorship.

What you’ll be doing

  • Sell exhibition space and drive sales campaigns across the team 
  • Ensure that all revenue targets are met, and KPI’s adhered to
  • Day to day management of a team of 4 sales people
  • Develop and target premium accounts (large corporates/tech vendors etc)  
  • Run the day-to-day training,motivation management and appraisals of the sales team
  • Responsible for weekly sales targets confirmed with ED
  • Develop specific plans to ensure revenue growth in events
  • Provide quarterly results assessments of sales staff’s productivity
  • Coordinate proper company resources to ensure efficient and stable sales results
  • Collaborate with the ED to develop sales strategies to measure and grow market share, monitoring the business by sector to identify growth / new sales areas of interest
  • Hold daily/weekly sales meetings with sales staff

Key Requirements:

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Sales Manager to include team management
  • Experience of working in a fast-paced, changing environment (preferably in the events/conference arena although not essential)
  • Significant experience in sales with a demonstrable successful sales record of customer focused sales in a B2B environment
  • A hunger to reach and exceed targets and a tenacious and “can do” approach
  • Strong people management experience and skills
  • Able to communicate confidently and effectively with all levels across the business
  • Must be professional, resilient, approachable, diligent, and have a flexible approach to work, leading from the front
  • Excellent organisation and time keeping skills
