An exciting opportunity for an experienced Operations Manager to drive success on a large-scale B2B event / exhibition / expo. We’re looking for a highly experienced operational events professional based in the Midlands to join a successful global exhibition organiser operating in the Agriculture sector.

The Role:

As Operations Manager, you’ll drive continuous improvement and maximise revenue of B2B agricultural events through:

  • Delivering the operational aspects of the events and their content features within budget and in a safe working environment
  • Delivering the operational aspects of the events and their content features to a high level of visitor and exhibitor satisfaction at an international standard


  • Deliver the operational aspects of the events and their content features within budget
  • Deliver the events in a safe working environment for all staff, contractors, visitors and exhibitors
  • Responsibility onsite for traffic management, car parking, catering, toilets and security
  • Managing a greenfield site (potentially in bad weather conditions)
  • Deliver the events within relevant health and safety legislation and guidelines, and as part of this:
    • Keep up-to-date with current health and safety legislation, regulations and procedures
    • Undertake risk assessments for event activities were relevant
    • Ensure all contractors and exhibitors have been completed their risk assessments and health and safety forms
  • Prepare the operations schedules (critical time paths) and ensure the deadlines are met
  • Build good working relationships with suppliers, negotiate rates with contracts in place
  • Build good working relationships with the members of the Safety Advisory Groups, Police and Highways, Local Parish Councils, Resident Associations, and local residents
  • To work in conjunction with the traffic consultant to create and deliver an effective traffic plan
  • Prepare, present and discuss the Health and Safety Management Document with the SAG and brief the Cereals team and relevant contractors
  • Produce exhibitor online manual
  • Work in conjunction with the Events Administrator and Marketing Manager to deliver the on-site visitor registration
  • Work in conjunction with the Event Director, and any land agent, in the search and selection of Cereals event sites
  • To attend meetings with the Event Director and liaise with the Event Director on a regular basis
  • To manage the third party supplier arrangements

Key Requirements:

  • Plenty of experience as an Operations Manager for a large-scale event. Experience of running outdoor events is preferable
  • You’ll need to be a pro-active individual with excellent communication skills and strong leadership ability and teamwork
  • You’ll need fine attention to detail and customer-focus
  • Problem solving skills and strong resilience under pressure
  • NEBOSH (Health and Safety) qualification and Knowledge of the farming industry are both desirable but not required
