Managing Director - Scotland

£90,000 - £109,000 + £12,000 car allowance - Exhibitions & Conferences - C-Level & Strategic

A position for an experienced events professional at Event Director, Portfolio Director level or above to lead a well-established exhibition and event organsier in Scotland. The new MD will have a flair for people and own a successful portfolio of both B2B and B2C exhibitions / trade shows / expos. 

The Role:

The role will require drive and motivation to grow not only the commercial success of existing events but, launch and acquire new events.  

You will need to build on the personal development of each member of the team, implementing the company values and focusing on “Being the BEST".

You should do all this whilst maintaining exceptional governance practices and Financial targets.


  • To be responsible for all duties attributable to a Managing Director including managing Corporate Governance, attending Board meetings and acting as Company Spokesperson
  • To effectively lead, inspire, motivate and manage the People
  • To be responsible for the implementation of overall company targets, developing budgets and Sales Promotion Plan.
  • Analysing, researching and determining target markets, industry trends, and competitive factors to plan a strategic approach to the growth of the business
  • To serve as the primary liaison point with external contacts to develop joint activities that enhance the business potential and secure new business
  • Reporting timely on company results
  • To work collaboratively with others to prepare periodic financial projections ensuring overall company targets are reached
  • Support of the business’ strategies

      Required Skills:

  • Exceptional People Manager
  • Senior-level exhibitions / trade-show experience 
  • Experience of managing Corporate Governance
  • Experience as a senior, commercial events professional – with direct experience of launching new events and seeing projects through from concept to realisation and success
  • Extensive P&L ownership experience with full understanding of proactive cost-management and budget processes
  • Committed to understanding and rolling out every touchpoint required to deliver the BEST events.
  • An understanding of every touchpoint required to deliver the BEST customer service and experience
  • Committed to the personal development of yourself and others around you
  • Understanding of new technologies and digital marketing processes such that you are able to input on the development of digital marketing strategies and digital products within the business
