We’re looking for a dynamic Head of Sales to join a fast-growing exhibition and conference organiser serving the public sector. You’ll need to be an entrepreneurial and highly dedicated Exhibition Sales Manager with experience in driving exhibition and sponsorship revenue on large-scale events.

The position will involve the day-to-day management of the commercial sales operation including sponsorship sales, exhibition sales and advertising sales with a responsibility for a c£4million revenue.

You’ll be working for a market-leading B2B event organiser – attracting senior audiences and buyers from the public sector.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Managing the day to day running of the sales function – based in Blackburn
  • Accountability for the financial performance of the office on a day to day basis, ensuring it achieves target contribution weekly and monthly
  • Maximising all potential sales by developing and executing recruitment plans, sales plans, directing and motivating the sales teams, exceeding monthly and annual sales targets
  • Researching the relevant marketplaces associated to your products including the competitor landscape
  • Staff appraisal and development
  • Maintaining a professional attitude to conduct, plus product, market and company knowledge – being a role model to the team
  • Preparing and delivering progress reports
  • Liaison with other internal departments / functions / offices – Portfolio Directors, Marketing, Accounts department; etc.

Required Skills:

  • Extensive sales experience in a B2B sales environment with 3 of those in Sales Management. Exhibition and sponsorship sales experience is highly preferable. You’ll also need experience in both a new business and account management
  • Ability to seize new business opportunities with Extensive telephone and face to face/presentations experience. Able to conduct a more conceptual, consultative sale and build a longer term business relationship
  • An all-rounder, able to transfer seamlessly from major account handling one minute to cold calling the next.
  • Sales Management and People Management skills (e.g. Recruiting, training, coaching, supervising, motivating, etc.)
  • High attention to detail - flexible, energetic and methodical. Strong Planning, organisation and time management skills
  • Self-sufficient, self-motivated, resilient, determined, assertive, good objection handler, capable of working under pressure to tight deadlines and prioritising. With Strong interpersonal skills, excellent communicator, authoritative and credible
  • Ability to communicate at senior level, authoritative. Professionalism, integrity, must be well-presented
