An exciting opportunity for a Group Event Director to lead the development of international events for a large B2B media group in Dubai, UAE.

We’re looking for an inspirational Portfolio Director or Event Director from an exhibition / expo / trade show background who brings out the best in others. You’ll need sound commercial judgement, gravitas and a winning attitude.

The Role:

You’ll be working for an international B2B media group operating across exhibitions and conferences. As Group Event Director, you’ll lead the management and development of the division and show portfolio.

You’ll act as the face of the events and will hold strategic, operational and P&L responsibility. You will play a pivotal role in our client's continued growth by identifying new acquisition targets (both businesses and events), securing new mergers/partnerships, and continuous analysis and due diligence across the portfolio of products on a global scale.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Portfolio management: Driving the strategy, plans and budgets for five International events. Establishing and developing the direction of conference content and sponsorship. Managing venue negotiations and obtaining event licences. Submitting monthly reports. Demonstrating a deep understanding of the profitability/viability of each show and managing P&L.
  • Team management: Coaching and developing team members to create an outstanding cohesive team that meets or exceeds targets. Stimulating a culture of collaboration and respect.
  • Customer focus: Developing and maintaining key account relationships. Association and key stakeholder relationships.

Key requirements:

  • Experience of launching B2B events
  • Experience of leading international trade shows (ideally in the Middle East)
  • Experience of leading large-scale and complex content/sponsorship-led events
  • Confident sales professional
  • Enthusiastic and infectious leadership style
  • Sound negotiating and influencing skills
  • Experience of building and performance-managing event teams
