Exhibition Sales Manager - London

We’re looking for an experienced Exhibition Sales Manager to join a growing and highly-successful exhibition / trade show / expo organiser serving the public sector.

This is a great opportunity for an exhibition sales professional to lead a team and drive the development of a flagship event with ambitions for serious growth.

The Role

This is a hands-on exhibitions sales management position. You’ll be selling and leading the sales campaign for a leading healthcare exhibition as well as directly managing the sales team. This post reports directly to the Event Director on a daily basis with a dotted line to the Event Sales Director.

You’ll ensure that the sakes team operates to maximum efficiency in resourcing, performance, motivation and skill sets.

What you’ll be doing:

• Drive the events sales campaigns across the team, selling event participation in the form of exhibition space and sponsorship to both previous and new exhibitors and partners over the telephone and face-to-face
• Quickly developing a strong understanding and knowledge of the sector, as well as key vertical sectors
• Managing and maximising revenue from new and existing key accounts through building and developing close and longstanding relationships and rebuilding relationships with lapsed accounts
• Work closely with show team including Event Director, Content, Operations and Marketing to jointly develop the event as well as setting the best possible example to junior members of the sales team
• Line management of a team of 2-4 sales people including day-to-day training, target setting, performance management/appraisals and motivation of the sales team
• Ensure that all revenue targets are met, and KPI’s adhered to
• Responsible for weekly/monthly sales targets confirmed with Event Director
• Collaborate with the Event Director to develop sales strategies to measure and grow

Key Requirements:

• A minimum of 2/3 years’ experience as a senior sales professional, working in a fast-paced, changing environment with a demonstrable successful sales record of customer focused sales in a B2B environment (preferably in the events/conference arena although not essential)
• 1-2 years’ experience as a Sales Manager including team management is desirable
• Experience in growing high value relationships (both prospects and clients) and strong key account development
• Strong people management experience and skills
• Ability to motivate and drive the sales team to achieve targets
• A hunger to reach and exceed targets and a tenacious “can do” approach
• Able to communicate confidently and effectively with all levels across the business
• Must be professional, resilient, approachable, diligent, and have a flexible approach to work, leading from the front
• Excellent attention to detail and proficiency with Microsoft Office programmes
• Excellent organisation and time keeping skills. In some situations, the job holder will be required to make an early start or stay late, sometimes on short notice
• To work with teams and individuals collaboratively, proactively and positively
