Hugely exciting opportunity for an experienced Event Director / Portfolio Director to develop and manage large-scale exhibitions for a successful USA organiser.

The position is for a leading event organizer, with a global portfolio, based in the United States on the east coast.

The Role:

The Event Director / Portfolio Director will be responsible for crafting the vision, objectives, strategy and development for large-scale exhibitions.

The successful candidate for this role will be required to act as both a leader and a business owner. The key objectives being to empower cross-functional teams to work collaboratively in order to achieve key objectives and to grow the trade show brands, not only from a P&L perspective, but in terms of industry awareness.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A proven track record in successfully developing event portfolios or business segments.
  • Desire and ability to drive new innovation 
  • A customer-focussed leadership approach (as he / she will be required to lead a diverse team of direct / indirect reports).
  • Experience in building new partnerships and strategic alliances.
  • A high level of emotional intelligence and awareness in order to enable them to collaborate effectively and strategically with colleagues and third parties.

Key responsibilities:

  • Building and leveraging communities and networks – allowing the business to develop within its given industry.
  • Directing and executing sales and marketing strategy – to properly define and deliver the customer value proposition, achieving a combination of higher revenue and profits. 
  • Acting as a collaborative entrepreneur – developing strong internal and external relationships and leveraging staff resources across the business.
  • Creating superior customer solutions via online and offline channels. Success will be defined by the ability to deliver positive business outcomes for customers.
  • Inspiring high levels of employee performance by creating the optimal growth environment for the Exhibition Team.
  • Maintaining team focus by prioritizing, sequencing and focusing energy; leading a holistic approach to planning to ensuring commitments are delivered on time and to high quality.
