An exciting Conference Director / Events Content Director position on a leading event in the energy / oil and gas sector. You’ll need to be an expert in the energy market with experience in delivering tangible value for delegates and effectively building a conference brand.

The Role

As Conference Director, you’ll shape, build and execute the conference, taking ownership for the commercial strategy, content and event management. You’ll be responsible for mapping the value chain for the energy market in order to position the event and ensure that it stands out from its competitors.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Assessing the market, providing market and product positioning plans alongside a clear strategy for content and audience retention / acquisition
  • You’ll have ownership for the content and programme format – keeping commercial needs firmly in focus
  • Leading and mentoring the marketing and content production teams, leading from the front with in-depth industry knowledge
  • Targeting key industry stakeholders to positively influence them in regards to the value and positioning of the event
  • Contribute to building the profile of the event through both live and digital channels and communities (i.e. industry-focussed content, interviews with key stakeholders, opportunities to speak or moderate within the market)
  • Delivery of the content, with a focus on tangible return for delegates in order to build delegate revenues, sponsorship and other revenue streams. While also scoping and proposing new initiatives that offer changes to the event format or added value for its participants
  • Team-building responsibilities, including recruitment, training and development
  • Liaison with all key stakeholders, speakers and advisory groups. Establishing clear value propositions for both internal and external stakeholders
  • Full event management ownership – including on-site conference fulfilment, assisting with delegate queried and adopting positive actions in order to sell delegate places and sponsorship

Requirements:

  • Several years’ experience as a Conference Manager or Director
  • In-depth market knowledge of the energy / oil and gas market sectors and the associated market value chain
  • Multi-skilled across various conference disciplines, including sales, marketing and operations
  • A confident leader, with the ability to coach and manage staff effectively - ensuring smooth and cohesive delivery of events
  • Ability to simultaneously manage a multitude of strategies across international portfolios
  • A team-player!
